Emerie Brooklynn is 6 months

Are you really 6 months!?  I can hardly believe it!  You are just turning into a little person more and more as each day passes. You are getting BIG!  The car seat is becoming much heavier to carry and I was just looking at our pictures from Hawaii and you are TINY! My have you grown!

You legitimately can sit-up by yourself, and we think you are close to breaking your first tooth.  You are on the verge of scooting/crawling---whether we are ready or not, it's coming.  You get in the right position but then don't know what to do so you face plant. But you are more than ready! You also still love your jumper but are a much more accomplished jumper. You don't even need the jumper you will jump on and surface all the time! One day at church we were passing you down to your Grandma Gordon and you jump on everyone's lap once to get there. It was so cute and quite hilarious!   You are just a mover and wish desperately that you could move everywhere all at once.

I've noticed that you are quite the observer.   It takes you time to really warm up to new people or new toys.  Once you feel comfortable though, you take it on with full enthusiasm.

I keep trying to teach you to clap, but you prefer to flap your little arms like wings when you are excited.  We are also trying to get you to wave.  Sometimes you stare at your hand very intently and make some movement, but it is still a work in progress. When we arrived back from Thanksgiving you decided you could make all kinds of noises especially your squealy ones and screamy noises.

You love your baths, squash, books, kicking, splashing, grabbing and reaching for EVERYTHING, playing with dad, drumming on the table, and any weird noise dad or I can make!

You do NOT like changing clothes, the vacuum, or my blow dryer.  You haven't showed a problem with stranger danger quite yet, but you have displayed a few signs of concern when new people hold you.

I think one of the biggest milestones of the month is that you are expressing opinions.  If you don't want to eat what we are feeding you, you simply seal your little lips shut.  Heaven help us when you finally learn the word, "no."

Thanksgiving 2013

This year we spent Thanksgiving with the Gordon family! And it was full of activities!

Emerie and I preparing for the trip by packing together!

She loves her Little lion flying companion!

She got immediately spoiled with attention!

She sat in her first high chair and loved being at the same level as everyone else at meal times!

Sunday she had a bunch of visitors drop by to say hi.

She met her great-grandma June!

Seth had a birthday and we celebrated with an awesome fondue dinner!

Emerie went and saw her first movie ever! This is my FAVORITE Disney movie that's come out in the last 10 years! I have a feeling it will be Emerie's too!

We cut down the Gordon's 20ft Christmas tree! (I helped pick it out!)

It was pretty warm but I still decided she NEEDED to wear her hat and boots! I died by her cuteness!

And finally our farewell dinner! We will miss them so much! Thanks for the fun times and delicious food!

5 Month Emerie

Dear Little Miss Emerie,

You are getting so big! I sometimes miss my sweet little cuddly baby but it has been so fun to watch you grow and learn so much this last month! You are smiley, giggly, and so full of life.  You attract attention every where you go, but you are not too keen on performing for strangers.  When we go to new places you very intently look around and observe your new surroundings.  You are a people watcher just like your Mommy :)

One of your biggest milestones this month is rolling over.  You have figured out how to roll from your tummy to your back. We are happy to see you doing a lot better with rolling and tummy time but you are anxious to not have to do tummy time or rolling at all! You are so eager to sit up! When you are on your back you do what we like to call "the super crunch". I can see how badly you want to sit and luckily you figured it out! That is our other big milestone this month was that you can sit-up by yourself!  You usually don't do it for a very long amount of time, but you can do it, so count it!

We gave you rice cereal last night for the first time but were not to keen on it. So we will have to keep trying! You are still a great milk drinker but I know that you will love solid food soon.

Another fun thing is that you love to take "real" baths and are a big time splasher! You kick those little legs and arms and you love it and you love getting mom wet and think it is so funny!

The best part of this month had been your little laugh emerging! It is so fun to watch you and dad play and laugh together! Mom can't make you laugh quite like dad can which is just further proof that you are a daddy's girl! Scaring you seems to be the best way to get to get you to laugh which I personally think is very strange as mommy hates to be scared.

You have learned so much this past month that it makes me look forward to the many months to come and all the things you still have to learn!

We love you so much little one!

Future Med School Student!

Meet my future med school and PhD student! This guy got into the University of Cincinnati's MD/PhD program! This program is awesome because they went from 600 students down to 60 down and he was one 6 chosen! This program is awesome because they pay for everything and give you a stipend to love on. They also pay for books and health insurance! This is a major blessing for us and we are just so grateful to be going somewhere!

There are a couple of other MD/PhD programs that we are waiting for but to get your number 3 school is still amazing!  I'm do proud of you Nathan!!!!!

My 23rd Birthday

I had a great 23rd birthday and I have these two to thank for that! 22 was a great year for me and I know that 23 is going to be even more crazy and full of new adventures!

Tucanos dinner date!

My birthday cake (it's really banana cream pie)

Making wishes after dinner! We wished we would get into Med school somewhere and we found out on my birthday he did!

BYU Football

I love BYU and I love BYU Football! When I was single I always got the student season passes but when I got married money got tight and therefore we've never gotten them. But luckily I have a pretty cool brother-in-law who works for BYU cougar club and can get us tickets every now and then! I do owe him a lot (not to mention they let us do laundry there!)

Watching the game in LaVell Edwards Stadium is an amazing experience! As much as I love listening to Greg Wrubell on the radio there is only so much you can imagine in your head! I can't imagine how I will manage it when we move from Provo! I will just have to convince Nathan we need some sweet cable wherever we end up! Haha!

Anyway I'm enjoying the last games we will probably ever watch in provo (or at least for several years!) This is a sad idea but its been fun to take Emerie to her first BYU Football games! The first of many in her future since she will go to BYU!!

The first game was the BYU vs. Utah game.... Sad outcome but I had fun with my family!

Emerie in her cute BYU apparel!!

Nathan obviously enjoying carrying Emerie in the Snugli!

Emerie was a champ and was great through all of it and sleep for a bunch of it!

Our family picture at the game!

The next game was the BYU vs. Boise State game! My parents, my sister Kristen and her family, my sister Gayle and her family, my brother Daniel, and my sister Aimee all came in for the game so it was extra fun!

My sister Kristen photo bombing our picture! She is pretty funny!

After the game! Emerie did come with us but we didn't get a picture the first half and the second half two of my nieces babysat her in the Cougar Club tent so we could have a break! It was fun to scream and cheer without worrying about waking her up or scaring her!

I love this stadium! I will miss it so much! I love BYU and I love BYU Football!

4 Month Emerie

Dearest Emerie Brooklynn,

Your little personality is just blossoming each day!  We are really loving this current stage with you!  You are turning into this little person who is full of life!

You currently LOVE to spit and blow bubbles.  You do it when you're happy and you do it when you're upset.  You are a drooling/spitting machine these days. You are really learning how to grab toys and grab anything that's close! Other than toys you have learned how to grab your toes and your hair which you you pull really hard on. You've recently discovered how to pull mommy's hair too which hurts but I love to watch you check things out. You are becoming more and more curious!

You smile a lot more and your giggles are still rare but we are working on it! You and daddy are best buds and you light up whenever daddy comes home and starts talking to you. You will be a daddy's girl I just know it!

You pretty much sleep through the night but your first cold messed that up a little and we are trying to get you back into that. You are getting better at taking naps but you still don't love sleeping for a solid two hours! You do have plenty of room now since we set up your crib and you love just sprawling out at night and can do a 360 in your crib at night and during naptime!

You still don't love tummy time, but you are getting better at it. You love it if I get down with you and talk to you while you're on your tummy. Or if you have toys in front of you.

We busted out your little jumper and you love it and enjoy being more mobile and looking around. You also love going on walks and looking at everything.

You respond to your name and all the other nicknames you have. Some of them are: baby bear, googie bear, Emi, pia pia and "the beast" (if you are being especially grumpy!)

Emerie you are so sweet and are a ray of sunshine (especially if you've had a nap) and we couldn't have asked for a sweeter little girl! Life with you is so much fun!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

The Jenny Jump-up

Look who joined our family. . . Jenny Jump-Up! This is all part of the workout regimen...

There is not so much jumping action yet but some definite turning and some swinging!

Workin' Out Family

So Nathan and I have been working out together aka Nathan pushes me to workout and I crack jokes the whole time (while legitimately working out occasionally). But working out post baby is a whole different ball game people! I feel like an 80 year old smoker with lung cancer after running and working out for like 5 minutes! Kill me! But a family that works out together stays together right??

Oh and no one gets off easy in our house little Emerie has to reach her goal of strengthening those arms and learning to roll over.

She looks so cute when she works out! Me on the other hand not so much.

New Beginnings

I have always sucked at blogging. Maybe I didn't think my life was very interesting or I just figured no one actually read what I wrote...

In any case I'm turning over a new leaf. With a new little baby she has literally overloaded my phone with pictures and memories and I want to remember them! And a blog seems like an easier solution than printing everything out and putting them in an album and then writing everything down months after it happens! Plus I got the Blogger app which saves a bunch of time!

So here I go! Hopefully it keeps my family and friends up-to-date on us as well as help me keep memories for our family!!

And for your viewing pleasure...

How Sunday naps go in our house... Daddy sleeps while Emerie and I have fun !
