There is Beauty in the Gray

It's the middle of winter and here in Ohio it has been extremely cold and kind of gray.  I have this philosophy on cold "If it's cold there had better be snow, if not it should be 70 degrees".  I hate cold when it's gray and the ground isn't blanketed in beautiful snow and just my luck it's been very cold with almost no snow.

Often times when people want their picture taken they want the beautiful spring flowers, colorful fall leaves, or winter wonderland snow as their setting and background for their pictures. All of these settings are beautiful and I love them in my own personal pictures but as I was editing these pictures I was reminded of the beauty of simple and even gray backgrounds. I love how the colors stand out more than if they were flooded with fall leaves. I love that I'm not as wrapped up in looking at the background but of the subjects of the pictures.

It's rather clique but there really is beauty all around and sometimes you have to stop pouting and complaining and see that Heavenly Father has blessed us with a beautiful place to live even when it is 9 degrees and bare outside.  That there can be beautiful and vibrant parts of life even when life seems gray and lonely. I think it's about perspective and whether like in the pictures we choose to see the gray or the beautiful color and people. Which sometimes is always easier said then done but sometimes we just need a reminder.

(NOTE; I wrote this a couple of days ago because currently there is snow falling out my window and the ground has a beautiful blanket of snow. I meant what I wrote and hopefully when this snow melts I can remember that cold with snow can still be beautiful.)
