When we visited in March I was hesitant because it was very culturally different for this born and raised Utah girl. We went to the ward that we had heard so much about and we fell in love! The people were awesome; so welcoming, so kind and so excited for us to come there! They really sold us because I really wanted a good ward and people who understood what we were headed into (there were at least 5 families there that did the MD/PhD route). So we made the decision. It had to be Cincinnati!
Leaving was stressful. We went on an 11 day vacation, had Emerie's birthday and then moved 3 days later.
Leaving was incredibly sad and I had moments of hysterical crying up until about Indiana. I have never lived anywhere but in Utah and never more than 5 hours away from my family. I would miss my parents and my sisters that lived close and just everything familiar but we were making this move as a family and were going to make it work!
Getting here was difficult with some moving truck drama but we made it! The first official week we were here by ourselves was awesome! There were so many sweet moms in the ward that invited us to the zoo, museums, barbecues, soccer watching parties, dinner etc... But then the second week came and it wasn't filled with so many offers... Which was fine but It was real life and I just wasn't ready for that. I felt lonely and homesick for the first time and I cried almost everyday. I finally just had to give myself a pep talk and get out of the house.
I have really learned to love Cincinnati! It's quirky but that makes it interesting and fun. I love the house we are renting and the people we are renting from even more! We have the best neighbors two doors down that are also MD/PhDs. North College Hill (the city we love in) is okay and when we buy a home within the next year or two it probably won't be here but it's nice for the time being! It's definitely toughening me up!
Anyway if you're still reading this... You're freaking awesome and I love you and for that I will reward you with pictures because that's why people look at blogs!
I will desperately miss the mountains and snow right outside my door!
Our last day in our house!
Cami and Topher... Their post is coming but they were the best neighbors and friends. Period.
We made it to Ohio over the bridge!
First trip to the awesome Cincinnati zoo!
The 4th of July with fireworks literally outside our door!
The children's museum is literally the best and coolest place!
We painted the living room and it was HARD but hilariously fun!
